The story of Pol Pot, and our craven involvement in his rise to power, is one of the great genocide tragedies of any time. Our abandonment of Cambodia, after interfering there, and tipping the balance, should have made us realize that our ability to positively intervene in other countries is...iffy. Our fatal flaw as a country is overweening hubris. I just hope it doesn't destroy us.
