I don't know what H1-B is. However, please explain one issue brought up in the last five years that puts Siebel in a favorable position that management has tried to cut off. Just one.

I can't think of anything positive for SEBL that they have tried to cut off. I wouldn't expect there to be anything.

BTW remember peoplesoft didn't hold conference calls for a long time either, so there is a precedent for this in software.

Fwiw, H1-Bs are the foreign workers that US companies bring over from india for half price. The tech lobby got the quotas for these workers to be increased to obscene levels which essentially meant tech companies didn't have to deal with the traditional supply and demand issues for workers which the US is based on. A sister issue to the H1-B problem is the outsourcing of whole R&D depts to india. Oracle does this, SEBL doesn't but part of the reason SEBL can afford to keep people here is because it pays them with options. At oracle, the only people that get options are the senior management, developers don't get options and consequently the quality of the oracle product was suffering. The solution for Oracle was to dump R&D to india. My personal view, is that dumping R&D to india is a bad idea and not the domain of a good corporate citizen.

H1-B/outsourcing is one of these issues, like options, that stirs up a whole hornets nest of personal prejudices and either way you slice it there are some unhappy parties, however I have seen oracle shunt the issue in management meetings whereas Tom has nothing to hide. Anyway options and H1-Bs are the only 2 corporate issues that can be elevated to this level of emotionalism imo, and I think... just a guess on my part though... that if somebody in a shareholder meeting asked a question and went on and on about Sebl's H1-B policy, Sebl would cut them off. Not because the issue is making sebl look bad or good but its just a divisive issue which will not be solved by arbitration on either side.
