Cheaper doesn't mean worse. PPP, (Purchase Price Parity) was brought in to calculate the purchase power of people leaving in different countries.
So if you buy a beer for 1 dollar in a certain country, one doesn't have to earn as much to have his beer. Now extend this to housing prices, food, entertainment etc, one just earn more and pay more in a inflated country.
I don't have to pay house heating in Curitiba for more than 4/6 weeks. Neither I need air-conditioning. Nor the construction has to be so expoensive to fight humidity as in the UK or freezing countries like Scandinavian or Canada.
A guy making products for: Nissan/Peugeot, VW, Bosch, Siemens, Furukawa, Volvo, Electrolux, Nippondenso etc. stuff in Curitiba doesn't neeed to earn a lot of money.
Then his dentists, his doctor, also are subject to the same economy and so it goes. The problem there seems to be only the government picking his pocket. |
