I decided to completely uninstall NSW 2001 using first the uninstaller with the program and then using widows add/remove. With both ways choosing NSW I got the dialogue asking if I want to uninstall Netscape. I don’t know how that happened but what the heck. I went ahead and got rid of Netscape thinking that the next time it would find NSW. It didn’t find NSW and this time I got the message “Uninstall log not found.” Rather than getting rid of it manually I decided to reload the NSW 2001 thinking that the uninstaller would then find uninstall log. Much to my surprise I got a prompt to uninstall NSW. After doing that I thought I was ready to install the new version. Well, guess what? It did not work and the clean up utility did not work either. I finally had to get rid of the application manually. I then figured that it would be nice to load Go Back. Well that turned out to be a mistake. I got an error message saying, 'the suspend to disk file was missing." When I tried to recreate the file by starting up with a boot floppy I got the message saying I needed to create a partition. Well, when I clicked to a accept the default partition size I found out that I didn’t have enough hard drive space. Getting rid of Go Back wound up fixing the problem. All along my wife was getting increasingly upset because I kept telling her that I would not be on the computer long. I’m going to extra nice to her tomorrow. After all that happened I am not sure I want to upgrade the OS to XP (was planning to do that). I just may buy a new laptop down the road. The old saying if it isn’t broken don’t fix it sure makes sense.
