But the final analysis you must always to compare and seek to find ...
how would your Christ repair ? what would your "Christ" do ? what would be the "Christ's" view? how would your "Christ" respond ?
The power of "Christ" comes from the power of sacrificing all , giving away the attachments of the world , no thought of possessions and becoming aloof to even the draw of the family and the ties of father to son , mother to daughter but instead complete ascetic devotion to the "way" and the "light" . There is peace in the convent , and peace in the monestary , but in the world of rationalized addiction to power based on moral certitudes , national self-interest, and self-aggrandizement and manipulation of the "Word".From this all manner of actions are possible . Centuries have passed and what was seen was the playing out of an endless parade of the divine~right of kings drunk on power , conspiracy to maintain their dominions , and also most, usually drunk on alcohol right on down thru the French and American revolution.
(You find in the original thirteen colonies, btw , the average consumption of "Rum" , which was the alcoholic/drug of choice then , was approximately 50gals per year , per man ! The Boston Tea Party was an action taken not so much for the sake of taxation on tea , but the British had cut off the Rum supply from the West Indian sugar cane plantations , and like all true addicts those Americans were in an uproar of withdrawl and outrage . )
The attack of 9/11 was not something new in the world though more highly planned and executed and directed to our "sovereign" soil , but this kind of violence has been seen happening in many other places from the ME , Africa , the Baltics and Europe all this time . Our greatest military defeat since WWII in Vietnam , you'll find the boyz over in foggy bottom were all mostly drunk all the time , and Richard Nixon was an "ugly" drunk himself , and history goes on and on repeating itself under different banners and guises of insobriety and power seeking leaders and countries who whipped their sunjects up time and again into religious or nationalistic frenzies.
Religious contensiousness and violence is also nothing new as great power bases are founded on them . In Islam one sees exactky the same kind of Bush is fighting a "Holy War" , one defined by free trade and a world safe for capitalism and democracy by legitmate aggression to foreign despots...but one is careful in the aftermath now as to allow for only the follow-up strictly disciplined policing actions making sure to only encourage the infrastructure to entreat those changes of self-governing without any clandestine introduction of prosyletizing riding in like carpet baggers on the drapes of the soldier's victories.
There are no "un-believers " in foxholes , it has been once said , which is to say that in foxholes the adrenalines are high . This is what you see running thru every preacher who mistakes his preaching of the word and it's subsequent pay-off in dopamine , for the actual self-governing of his own soul . This is where religion fails to compensate for "knowing" of the word , and living of the "word" in a world based mainly on ever-expanding capitalistism and landlordism.
One looks back upon many many simpler times and peoples living in congruity with nature (eden?) , and you find they don't even have the words for ownership of the land , or the concept of "mine" is hardly developed in their minds at all. Everything is shared equally , and it's noted even amongst the children of these tribes that quarrels and fighting is ever hardly witnessed . And if there is a "chief" person given power to by others , his main function is to see that all reciev an equal portion. The main attribute of these primitive family-based human societies, is that all things are considered sacred and to be respected and cherished .
It is fairly observed that Jesus was part of the Essenes , who were themselves living out this more elemental , simplified , pure-sharing kind of existence . I do not have to tell you of the many quotes of Jesus and staements of his regarding "ownership" and possessions . In this regard of all the things Jesus may have spoken of in the Gospels , on this subject of disvesting all possesions he was abundantly & penultimately clear .
So are you a capitalist landlord maintaining an empire ? Just a pious fellow hoarding scriptures, like an alocoholic hides his bottles ? Or a true Christian giving it all away for free, seeking the source of all "truth" with no thoughts of rewards ?
;-)
PS: I can see you instantly reaching for opposing views in scripture right now , to prove something different to what was posted above . Bad boy , Jesus will scold you in heaven ! hehe |
