Help with going public

Technology and other companies may find the IPO game a little clearer after reading portions of a recent guide to going public published with the help of local law firms Neidiger/Tucker/Bruner Inc. and Gorsuch Kirgis.

Lawyer S. Lee Terry Jr. uses a football metaphor to describe the process in the book that covers financial, legal, accounting and even public relations issues.

The company's lawyer, Terry explains, is like the quarterback of the team, relaying plays from the coaches to the team. If that's not enough, the book equates the investment bankers with fleet-footed, high-priced running backs, the accounting firm with tight ends and the public relations firm with dependable blocking backs.

What we really want to know is who's the punter?
