But it drug Cambodia into that terrible war.. Which then created the vacuum for the killing fields to develop.

I think the North Vietnamese troops operating in Cambodia dragged that country into the war. Not to mention the Chinese government which shipped military supplies to both the NV and Khmer Rouge in from Cambodia's southern coast.

And it wasn't a vacuum which allowed the killing fields to develop. It was a communist victory in Indochina.
