If you're curious, you can start here I suppose. I know nothing about EFF, but they seem to have some concrete examples of changes to the way surveillance is handled. We can only hope that we as a nation can find ways to protect all of our liberties (including the right to be safe in our cities, schools, homes, while traveling, and also the right to lives with the least possible invasion by government) rather than redefining them. That said, I'm all for gun registration. There are paranoid people everywhere, and I suppose someone could spend days talking about why cars should be registered, but guns should not. And it likely has to do with the danger that the government will someday simultaneously take out all gun owners and declare victory over the people. Sounds like an idea Ashcroft might kick around.
