A copy of the letter I sent to AMAT IR....I would encourage others to send similar letters of disaproval to at least let them know that we exist!

Email: Investor_Relations@appliedmaterials.com

I have been an Applied shareholder for many years(since 95), but have never been so disgusted with the company as I was after reading the awarding of options at a penny per share for Mr. Splinter. This type of behavior is all the more egregious after the corporate debacles and executive malfeasance we have been witness to over the past two years. Options granted at $10 okay, but a penny a share? I do not recall any such thing under Morgan's watch, and here is a guy getting rewarded for taking on absolutely no risk whatsoever. This is intolerable....the compensation committee should be embarassed for awarding the shares and Mr. Splinter should be ashamed for accepting them, this especially so after the brutal downturn which I and many other have suffered through. This is an insult to every shareholder who has held on, believing in the company. I for one will review where AMAT stands in my portfolio after this, as I firmly believe this type of behavior is negligent on the part of the company and the compensation committee.
