Nadine.....your timelines aren't making sense here. How could the "Arab states" come under German influence in the late 19th century from an alliance that was established during WW1 (1914)?? If you mean that the alliance became "official" during WW1 but the influence was present before that can you provide links to substantiate that such an influence was present.

What were the "Arab states" at this time?? During WW1 and prior to it Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia were not even in existence as states! The Sykes-Picot agreement of 1916 which split the ME territories between Britain and France had the map of the ME as such.....
