... as in they may return to Japan one fine day, for good, but transported in either big boxes or little urns, as ex-expatriates. For them, Thailand is a better place to spend time than Japan, whereas Japan was a better place to toil away for income than Thailand.

Mark Mobius of Templeton Fund gave up his US papers for German papers but live in HK. I guess that makes Hong Kong the best of all three places for Mark Mobius;0)

I hope the above concept fit neatly into your world view, and if not, perhaps a regional outlook of all those folks moving to Alaska makes Alaska a 'better' place.
