Losing something in the translation. The 68/84 pin issues go to Ascend stating their intention to be first to market, wanting Rockwell to "beef up" current hardware to make K56 go, etc. (That was a laugh, even for a "techno-weenie".) Yes, they could have glued an 84-pin socket to the old boards, but circuitry was/is all wrong. That's why they are underwriting upgrade program to new cards.

I never stated it as an issue on NEW boards, but NEW boards weren't in the cards (pun intended) at the time. Sorry if I caused confusion.

I doubt Ascend will discuss anyway. Besides, it was important then to refute FUD, but is moot now.
