You may be right, but this doesn't match my experience. I've never worked anyplace that didn't have "the best people", but only a couple of these places really did, and the difference can matter.

However, I agree that SV benefits from the confluence of lots of factors that make it easy to start businesses, and that once established, it may make economic sense for a company to move elsewhere.
