CytRx licenses AIDS vaccine, stock soars

LOS ANGELES, May 21 (Reuters) - CytRx Inc. (NasdaqSC:CYTR - News), a development-stage biotechnology company, on Wednesday said it has licensed an experimental DNA-based HIV vaccine, sending its shares up more than 50 percent.
CytRx, based in Los Angeles, said it plans to begin testing the vaccine in humans within six months.
CytRx said it licensed exclusive rights to the vaccine from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts, and was awarded $15 million from the U.S. National Institutes of Health for a Phase I clinical study and evaluation of the vaccine technology. |
