Barb, until recently I did not worry about splits. Fundamentally a split means nothing, the good and the bad are just divided by a new number of shares. But in today's market it seems that somehow a split creates value and a split stock usually quickly returns to near its pre-split price with the "gain" as a free gift. Thus no matter how fundamentally short AOL is, I would expect a big jump if a split was announced. So whenever I am short AOL, I nervously watch the news ticker. VIAS is in the same category.
