LOL... Outside of a hospital or warehouse or a phonebooth, this will be just as useful as a GSM phone in the midwest.

Outside the midwest, GSM is the vast majority of the market.

So perhaps inside a hospital or a warehouse (etc.) WiFi might turn out to be the majority of the wireless data market too?

Ubiquity isn't all it's cracked up to be. Ask the folks at Globalstar. Utility counts in there too. And price.

And as far as the lack of business model for WiFi, well before you go too far on lecturing the planet how it ain't gonna work, you might want to go to some bus-school folks and tell 'em this loss leader stuff is hooey. And that giving away cheap stuff so's to hook folks on the expensive stuff only works for drug addicts.

Check the Internet. Even lousier business model when it first started out. Hey... it exists... gee... fancy that.

If I was heavily invested in the future of wireless broadband (and I have a few bets there now, but only play money), I'd be watchin' WiFi very carefully.
