Since when do historians and political observers have to rely on public/official statements/comments to appraise the genuine feelings/opinions of past and current statesmen? "Read my lips!", remember? Of course, JFK --like just every US prez before and after him-- bragged about victory, the free world, and the Communist peril... That's what's expected from any Commander-in-Chief by US opinion. It's also part of the US psychological warfare aimed at world opinion. But then, by your logic, suffice it for us to watch CNN and read the White House releases to have as much a clue as an insider! All in all, I believe JFK was assassinated for three reasons: 1) He didn't want an all-out commitment in Vietnam; 2) He wanted Ben Gurion to scrap Israel's nuke program; 3) He was a papist.... Gus
