I recently heard about a biotech company in Australia, not really known in the states, Genetic Technologies but do trade (very thinly thus far) as GNTLF. Admittedly I am not a scientific person, so please bear with me. Apparently, they have patented something like 90% of the human genome that scientists originally thought was useless many years ago. But now every other biotech company in is infringing on this patent base and will in fact have to pay royalties to Genetic Technologies. They have only started pursuing patent infringement lawsuits. Already they have had a few news releases detailing the that several well-known biotech companies have already buckled under and are paying them.
Besides these patent base, I believe that that they are working on an alternative to amniocentesis that could revolutionize the procedure. I don't believe many companies are pursuing this, but I could be wrong. The Company trades under the symbol "GNTLF" for like $0.24 and must be planning to list ADRs with that ticker reserved. Seems interesting especially with the patents they have....I am doing some independent research on this, and will only post any compelling follow-up on this because it could be a fluff company, but I want to check a little first.
