Isn't that a little simplistic of an explanation?

I'm sure that many of the companies that took their business and jobs out of the country did so because they could make more money that way. And I am sure many of those companies are run by Republicans. It seems that unions got so strong and had such expensive packages, that it was inevitable that someone could do their jobs cheaper. Look at China, their workers could have their wages raised by a multiple of ten, and still undercut US costs. I'm sure we could have been protectionist for a bit longer, but don't you think the rest of the world would have found a way to compete? Cheap labor is their edge.

I think this issue is hard to lay at one party's feet.
