Europe's role in starving Africans finally makes it to the POTUS level. More like 3M reminders of major contributions finally making it to the POTUS level. What a wierd if not ridiculous venue to raise this issue. And how quaint the way Bush touts science he likes but disses science he doesn't. The bio-engineers are having a hard enough time monitoring their products in this country. Overseas markets promise the possibility of introducing patented crops and gradually wrestling control of the food supply into fewer and fewer private hands, but also fewer controls on the use of bioengineered prducts. It sure isn't out of some idealistic urge to promote economic independence.
