Hanson's essay is interesting, but the "alternatives" that he alleges we have "tried" are mostly straw men

Huh? How, when he gives a real-world example for each alternative? Certainly, we did try to work with the Arab governments; certainly, we are trying something rather different now. I think he's right that more and more Americans are simply coming to the conclusion that trying to appease Arab states is a mug's game; the Arabs are blaming us & Israel for a mess of their own making.
