The answer was serious also.
Then you'll have to explain it to me, since mirari as I understand it is part of the tarot card reading process.
The first question that you should ask yourself is: What would it do to you if you found out that the "thing" that is life, is not physical or temporal?
That's not a question I ask. I am in pursuit of knowledge for its own sake. What I do with it when, if, I find the truth is a separate matter. But the inquiry is all I'm interested in at this point.
I'm not talking about a cultural issue; I'm assuming, for the sake of the discussion, and until I find a reason to think otherwise, that the same force or element or whatever which turns non-living things into living things and vice versa, which transmits life from one thing (a tree) to another (the seed of that tree), is universal to all cultures. Our perceptions or explanations of it may be different, as different cultures have different perceptions or explanations of gravity, or sunlight, or lightning, but the thing itself, gravity, or sunlight, or lightning, is, so far as I can tell, universal to all cultures. |
