Searle: Please accept my apology for what you have perceived as critical comments. I'll argue nothing more than social cluelessness in defense. In suggesting the need to step back and look at the essential nature of people (and accept it even if we think it requires acceptance of 'bad' human traits) if we hope to develop a real solution, i seem to have portrayed an arrogant attitude that the Israeli/Palestinian conflict is an insignificant squabble that is beneath me and doesn't matter and that your ideas were foolish(?). It certainly wasn't my intent to mock (and stifle) your thoughts since I find them interesting (and frequently enlightening).

And while I'm better than most at maintaining a dispassionate view of the human carnage that surrounds us on a daily basis, the story of Rachael Corrie (which I know you are familiar with since you read Charley Reese) makes even my cold heart ache and will forever prevent me from not caring about the Isreali/Palestinian conflict.

I hope her life had more meaning and more purpose than to serve as just another reminder of man’s willingness to address conflict through force. But it doesn’t seem so.
