Wireless and Batteries

Has anyone tested or seen any articles on how much quicker a laptop's battery drains with/without WiFi and with/without cdma 1x. For WiFi (or whatever) to challenge cdma it has to be self sustaining anywhere, anytime.

Plugging into the wall doesn't do it for me. Having one wire as opposed to two seems like much ado about partial liberty.

WiFi (like any 'higher' capacity wireless standard) makes lots of sense where there's power. Everywhere else, the power hungry will give way to the most power efficient capable devices. Today, isn't that a PDA based 1x cdma phone?

It is hard to see WiFi, EDGE, UMTS or whatever challenging cdma 1x on the power front. Once networks move out, I'd expect power efficiency to become the driver of market growth.

Dr Jacobs has used a laptop for years. He must know the power/network impacts. Has he been quiet because the determinant is still the "Office"?

Doesn't dual cpu chips highlight the power problem and who's cpu is the most power efficient?
