FWIW-- I am delighted that Brian and others spoke to management about the corporate greed that has affected most US companies. When Chrysler was bought out by Daimler, the Chrysler ceo was making 11X the salary of the Daimler ceo. They have corporate selection problems in Europe also. However, they are getting on the US bandwagon and increasing their own salaries.

Given this, I thought that Splinter's background is perfect. He has intimate knowledge of the market for AMAT's products and should be able to translate this into a better focused company.
