Liberation does not mean they the population has free reign to loot and steal.. And most people would have understood that without compromising any "goodwill" we wished to achieve overall. People want to be secure, as well as free. And given a choice, people will prefer safety and security over utter chaos.

After all, isn't this what we would do in our OWN COMMUNITIES in times of crisis and natural disaster?? Why would anyone think the Iraqi people are any different than you or I??

No, the Iraqis are different, different in their expectation that authority is imposed from outside, and that if it goes, all bets are off. Americans think authority comes from within; we would move more swiftly to self-police, and we wouldn't loot the hospitals and museums in the first place. Did the Parisians loot the Louvre in 1944? Iraqis are a) Arabs, who have a shame culture, not a guilt culture, and b) have been deformed by thirty years of utter tyranny.
