Bill,

<No specifics in the links you mention>... <My point is that folks have been working on this problem for a while now. All I'm looking for is a specific example of a known failure which has been identified and quantified as to its impact and resolution.>

I'm tired of doing other people's homework. You obviously didn't read & research the links. There are several examples (if you really looked) ... Here's one that quickly comes to mind:

Y2K problem could be catastrophic for chemical process industries (CPI).
"The date glitch could cause innumerable shutdowns and horrific accidents. Indeed, a manufacturer's process-control system could be stymied by "00" and shut down altogether on New Year's Eve. That's exactly what happened last year to a smelter in South Island, New Zealand..." CHEMICAL ENGINEERING MAGAZINE

Besides this example being included in my links to you, the above had also been previously posted on this thread.
exchange2000.com

I don't have the time, nor inclination, to debate with people who make blanket assumptions ... without doing their homework. And, who sound like they know what they're talking about, when they don't ....Particularly when appropriate research links had previously been provided. I make every attempt possible to provide, factual links for research purposes. Unfortunately, I can't make everyone read them. I can only lead the horse to the water.

WARNING: To people posting invalid and/or misleading opinions and assumptions ... In the future I will no longer take the time to walk you thru the steps & lead you to facts.

This will be my STANDARD response:
- Do your homework!!
- Your opinion and assumption are incorrect.
- The issue has already been addressed & answered in links previously provided.
- Go back thru this thread and READ them thoroughly.

I took the time to provide research links ... YOU take the time to READ them!

Thank you.

Cheryl
