You're close, but it wasn't really "dumped" on me that way. It's the way I chose to take it. Immediately lean and mean, which is has to be from a business standpoint. For a message board to be successful as a business, it can't be feeding too many mouths.

I do have access to the people I need access to in Seattle to help me come up to speed.

Actually, I was at the ISP today to install the development database server (hoping the production one arrives next week), and took some pictures of the setup. I'll post them on iHub later. It's very impressive and very well put together.

Had lunch today with the consultants who're helping with the migration and the one who prefers the Unix world was drooling when I described the setup to him. He was very impressed at the amount of horsepower the site is using. The Sun Ultra 2's, for example, are each about 6 times more powerful than the site needs. And there are 3 of them. I'm yanking one of them out of the loop this week to use as a development box for the changes I'm going to have to make to the existing GSP.

We've decided to also see if we can get Search fixed pre-migration.

It's not a task I envy.

I go both ways on it. Dread and envy. I do like projects I can sink my teeth into and this is a good one.
