I agree. As you know, fuel cells are simply an energy conversion device, not another source. Everyone oohs and aahhs over the efficiency but efficiency alone does not make the devices economic. One only needs consider the economics of the sunk investment in transmission, distribution and conventional central station generating plants to see why these will never make it anywhere for residential needs.
For autos, you have a similar "infrastructure" problem that can't be overcome until gasoline is several multiples of the current price. There was a nice article in the WSJ a little while back -- discussed prototype hydrogen "stations"

Investing in the platinum group metals based on hopes of demand being driven by even a niche application of fuel cells is not wise, IMO.

There may be other "cyclical" reasons to invest in the platinum group metals -- or trading reasons (anybody been watching Zimbabwe Platinum?? ).

Pd looks oversold and is probably worth a look -- not sure about Pt -- jewelry is a big component of demand, but whither the auto industry after everyone and their grandmother has a new one at 0% for 60 months??
