I suspect its more a case of certain wealthy folks who have much influence with the govt of France who benefit
I am sure you do. But that is only because you don't know zip about this part of the world.
French have NO TAX ADVANTAGES in Monaco. That is why, there are very VERY few French people living in Monaco. And those are almost exclusively French with other passports.
But tell me how does France benefit? Tourism from folks coming to Monaco to gamble - but France could allow casinos themselves by passing a law.
France already HAS casinos, my dear Bruce.
How about you look it up, if you are so interested? If you are not going to take my word for it that France benefits from the existence of Monaco, and put up misinformed objections, you can at least try to read up on the subject a bit.
