Of course, had Gore been elected president and decided that Iraq was next on the plate after Afghanistan, the Reps would not only not have gone along; they would have been up in arms about "nation building" in Afghanistan and now we are going to try to do it again in Iraq.

I can hear Oren Hatch, even as I type, on CNN, with his slightly whinny voice, saying something like he can't believe Gore would do something like this. He had always thought of Gore as a fine fellow until now. Can't you just hear that?
