States are raising gas tax prices to get more money, along with cigs, booze, racetrack, hotels, ...
We as a nation consume energy... We do not want to conserve or down size. Look at the housing industries... I don't see many small houses being built. I doubt many need all the extra room, high ceilings, extra glass, fire places, etc.
Then we have an abundance of coal but no program to use it in our power plants, they are all converting to natural gas that is going through the roof and causing a huge increase in home heating of natural gas. Yet, coal sits because the companies will not put the money into cleaner air equipment such a scrubbers. On the other hand coal companies are destroying areas here in Pa. with machines that can strip a coal mine without putting in supporting beams. the machines pull out and the tops fall in or the steams fall in and the whole land scape changes.
This is what the social system now accepts, politics, they can talk about it but if they try to take away some of our toys they are history. g
why is the gasoline tax so high in Europe? Was it to support all the social programs and Europe had already taxed earned income to the max? Or was it to conserve oil ?
I expect the general public could care less what Europe thinks about our consumer appetite for energy... |
