Bob, if, in some one's SI profile, they have a web page URL listed, one goes to that URL, finds that it invites email, and one sends an email, is that an invasion of privacy, etc. etc.???

In my mind, NO. . . the person asked for it.

Just curious what you thought of it. . . I expect someone that I recently put on IGNORE is somewhat upset about a simple email and possibly could be twisting the facts and that it's now YOUR fault. <ggg>.
