This VC stuff is kind of interesting. I guess a nice niche for movers and shakers, folks who are well connected, hip, intelligent and all that. We do not see too many people like that at the weather office, heheh. I certainly do not mingle with those, ah, present company excepted of course.
Have to remember to ask my programmer buddy if he has ever approached a VC firm--done up a business plan and all that. Brian, you lurking?
I have often thought it would be fun to do a very small weather forecasting outfit--but I can't see a way to make money at it. Too much stuff available for free. Heck, the models are all online, and radar and sat imagery are all on the web. And of course very specialized forecasts are not likely to have any skill. |
