Question for all, what does this portend>? In 1914 Henry Ford paid assembly line workers $5 for 8 hours of work. In 2003, the average wage on a Chinese assembly line is $5.20 for an 8 hour day. How can any of the developed nations compete with these type of wages? Remember, assembly lines are the same all over the world, there is no statistical difference whether a worker has 6 years of college or a 10th grade equiv. education, as this is the very nature of assembly line work, it is rote. Even now, Mexico is losing 10's of thousands of line workers to China, and the average pay for Mexicans working on a Maquiladora line is $24 for an 8 hour day. At what point does this cause us not only economic problems, but militant civil unrest?
