Shannon, last time I checked, this is a handset discussion thread.

There are many handset-sized applications appropriate for 3G. Picturephones... GPS-location services, etc. that WiWhatever has nothing unique to offer.

Sure, I don't anticipate ever seeing free 3G hotspots near a strip clup or a hotel.

But, with the local Cablemodem putting 10gb caps on residential service and failed attempts to reign-in on junk email, I don't anticipate meaningful napster-style access growth.

For WAN applications: Subject 4754

On the subject of hotspots.

The absence of market demand for PDAs is exactly the financial challenge you face to fund network deployment.

4G will make a great complement to 2G and 3G when someone develops an application appropriate for it.

Until then, why does WiWhoCares keep popping up on Qualcomm threads?
