Gary,
-SLIGHT OFF TOPIC, SAP/INTC-
From my experience with other ADRs (American Depository Receipts), the small US trading volume would NOT determine the stability of the stock price. You can examine the historical charts to verify this: during the stiff correction period of March/April earlier this year, SAPHY declined much less than its US counterparts (look up SEBL, my lord!).
With its larger trading base in in Europe, US traders/money managers couldn't manipulate this stock easily. In fact, this is one of my ways of hedging against a possible Wall Street cave-in.
Are you thinking of buying this stock? If so, I would strongly suggest that you visit its home site. Also, I heard the stock would be traded directly in NYSE within a couple of years. In order to do this, the company will have to prepare the accounting methods in accordance with SEC regulations, and that is a lot to ask of a German company.)
The joint announcement with Intel would probably be of a very large scope, as neither Intel nor SAP would make it such a big deal (pre-announcement of an announcement) if it were routine.
