Has anyone run into this? Is there some way to reverse it?

I've never run into something like that but you could have accidentally removed the previous restore points. To my knowledge, there is no way to recover them. There was a windows update out recently that slowed down a bunch of people's computers. Look in your control panel for patch #811493. If it's there remove it.
