On the other hand using my patented Nascar Sponsor Index, the economy still sucks and companies aren't spending.

Can't remember ever seeing so many cars looking for sponsors, running around the track with no logos on them. And there would be more except the Army and Navy see this as a recruiting event and sponsor two cars.

Even the successful teams can't find a sponsor:
--------------------------------------------

CONCORD, N.C. -- The Roush Racing NASCAR Craftsman Truck teams head to Dover International Speedway this weekend with the future of the program up in the air unless sponsorship can be found.

Jon Wood and Carl Edwards are going into the sixth race of the season 10th and 12th in the point standings, respectively. Edwards is currently leading the Raybestos Rookie-of-the-Year point standings.

"I would have to believe that there is a sponsor out there who will not to pass up this opportunity," said Jon Wood, driver of the No. 50 Roush Racing Ford F-150. "This is a really neat marketing program since whatever sponsor comes on board will be on my truck and Carl's. You get two trucks for the price of one. On top of that, they are two trucks that are on the verge of winning very soon, maybe

even this weekend at Dover.

"Our program is so much stronger this year than it was in 2002. I have noticed a huge difference in our trucks. So far, we've been competitive in every race we've run. We've had some bad luck that wrecked our results, but we're on the right track. Last year I never even got a top-five finish and this year I had my best career finish (second) in only the third race."

"We're going to win some races this year," said Carl Edwards, driver of the No. 99 Roush Racing Ford F-150. "I've never been to most of these tracks since I've only run a total of 12 Craftsman Truck races, but the trucks Roush has built make it a lot easier to get the hang of new places. I go into every race knowing I have a shot to win. There are a lot of teams out there that can't say that."

Roush Racing has won more races in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series than any other team with 28 victories. Roush also captured the 2000 championship with Greg Biffle, and Rookie-of-the-Year honors with Biffle in 1998 and Kurt Busch in 2000.
