last time I checked, this is a handset discussion thread.

Funny, last time I checked this was the "Qualcomm - Coming into Buy Range" thread.

And whether or not the world perceives that the demand for petabytes of high-bandwidth data is going to drive the entire planet's wireless bit transport infrastructure to Qualcomm's door is pretty much the ENTIRE justification behind the rate at which the stock comes into buy range. Or not.

And if in their insipid stupidity the foolish consumers on Planet Earth fail to discover that CDMA is the absolute best way of delivering more bandwidth than some battery-saving lame little processor can process and render, and more bandwidth than some lame little screen can display, well that might be relevant. If instead they choose to direct their spending to more effective ways of twiddling their thumbs... well, that's possibly relevant too.

And if these bumbling morons want to do the labor intensive technological equivalent of following the paths of cows and then beating these cow-paths into dirt tracks, and then laying down gravel over the tracks and then paving the tracks... and meanwhile at intersections and other convenient points building way-stations and then settlements and then cities... well that wouldn't be something entirely out of the realm of human experience either.

Not everything is first put in place by a massive build out of central infrastructure by some all-powerful "carrier". Not when it comes to the history of human communication. Our carriers are more like modern paving crews, and they tend to lay down asphalt only after a roadway is proven.

if one is truly thinking long term, sometimes it pays to watch where the cows tread. Of course, if one isn't careful one could step in something unpleasant... but that comes with the territory.
