Impressive Gold Assays From Jilbey's Burkina Faso Properties
JLB/TSX
May 20, 2003
Jilbey Gold Exploration Ltd. formerly Jilbey Enterprises Ltd., is pleased to report that assays from grab samples collected during reconnaissance prospecting on the Taranga and Nongo Fayere Permits located adjacent to High River Gold Mines Ltd's. Taparko deposit in Burkina Faso have returned very significant gold assays of up to 92.9 g Au/ t.
The Taparko project of High River Gold Mines, is currently the subject of a feasibility study to evaluate the economic potential for developing an open pit gold mine and milling facility.
On the Taranga Permit, an eight kilometer structural trend is outlined by two artisanal mining operations, Foulbongo and Monlouri. Reconnaissance prospecting concentrated around this trend revealed two significant new gold showings, Thion-East and Taranga. Assays have been received to date for 438 grab samples. Thirty of the samples have assays over 1 g Au/t.
Seven samples from the new Thion-East gold showing returned assays between 5 g Au/t and 92.9 g Au/t for an average of 30.33 g Au/t. Six samples from the new Taranga gold showing returned assays between 1 g Au/t and 20 g Au/t for an average of 4.34 g Au/t. Assays of 17 grab samples around the Foulbongo and Monlouri artisinal mining operations range between 1 g Au/t and 12.65 g Au/t. All four locations are prime targets for drill testing.
On the Nongo Fayere permit, initial reconnaissance prospecting was concentrated on existing artisinal workings along continuations of gold anomalous zones extending off the Taparko property. Grab sampling around the Hampanaba Artisan Exploration Permit returned assays averaging 2.88 g Au/t. Twenty-three samples were collected around a second gold occurrence, named Laterite Hill, and ten of these samples had assays over 1 g Au/t and ranged between 1.28 g Au/t and 21.78 g Au/t.
Reconnaissance regional prospecting, grab sampling and soil geochemical surveys are continuing on a grid established on the Taranga Permit along the eight kilometer structural trend outlined by Foulbongo and Monlouri.
Greg Isenor, President stated, "We are extremely encouraged with these significant initial results. These assays point out the potential of the properties and the likelihood to discover more gold occurrences along these unexplored structural features that occur on our permits."
All samples have been shipped to Abilab Assay Laboratory located in Bamako, Mali to be prepared and analyzed for gold.
Soil samples are analyzed by atomic absorption on a 50g sub-sample.
Rock samples are analyzed for gold by fire assay on 50g subsample.
Greg Isenor P.Geo., President of Jilbey Gold Exploration Ltd., a qualified person as defined under the Canadian Securities Administrators' National Instrument 43-101, is responsible for program supervision.
The Corporation also advises that it's name was changed to Jilbey Gold Exploration Ltd. pursuant to a special resolution approved by the shareholders of the Corporation on March 27, 2003.
