I agree, these are disheartening issues.

Recently, I have been faced with similar billing issues for a family member whereby the charges for anesthesia were more then double that of the allowable UCR level as it approached the policy deductible. Even after the EOB was generated depicting the difference, there was no chance of any negotiation with the hospital since the policy holder doesn't hold a contractual relationship with the provider. Their suggestion; do you have a credit card ? <NG>

It's no wonder the growing frequency of medical collection finds its way into credit reports.

Health insurance coverage for many has now become a luxury, and this is just the beginning.
