PRESSTEK BROADENS ITS MARKET REACH

HUDSON, N.H., Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Presstek, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRST),
in its continuing efforts to broaden the use of its semi-conductor laser
diode imaging technology and thermal, processless plate materials, has
extended the potential use of its technologies to a wider range of
applications and customers. The Company believes that the wide
acceptance of the Heidelberg Quickmaster DI, which had its first public
showing in Europe in May, and according to industry sources has sold
over 500 units, is a harbinger of the growing acceptance of its imaging
technology. At a recently completed Graph Expo show in Chicago, a major
U.S. trade show for the printing and publishing industry, Presstek's
technologies and products were shown at six different exhibitions on the
show floor.
Heidelberg had the first U.S. public showing of the award winning
Quickmaster DI at Graph Expo '95 in Chicago. This product recently won
the prestigious new technology Graphic Arts Technical Foundation
InterTech award. The Quickmaster DI is a product jointly developed by
Presstek and Heidelberg, and uses Presstek's patented PEARL(TM) imaging
technology. Presstek supplies the high-powered semiconductor laser
imaging modules as well as the chemical free plate material for this new
four-color, digital lithographic printing system. The product was
demonstrated repeatedly at the four day Graph Expo show to over-capacity
crowds.
In a separate booth, the third largest at Graph Expo, Pitman, the
largest and oldest U.S. graphic arts dealer organization, showed
Presstek's computer-to-plate systems, the PEARLsetter(TM) 74 and 52.
Pitman is the exclusive U.S. reseller for Presstek's branded computer-to-
plate systems and thermal, chemical free plate materials. Visitor
attendance and interest was outstanding, according to Pitman sales
personnel.
Onmi-Adast also showed the PEARLsetter 74 computer-to-plate system.
Plates were taken from the system and installed on a five-color press
A-2 size (19" x 26") press, and press runs were made, all without the
use of chemical processing, and all in normal room light. Presstek
plates are non-photosensitive and require no chemical processing as do
plates normally used in the printing trade.
Sakurai US is a subsidiary of a Japanese press manufacturer and was
demonstrating a private label version of Presstek's computer-to-plate
system called the Sakurai Plate Master 72. This product was actively
being marketed by Sakurai at the show. Plates were being imaged on the
system and printed on a Sakurai press with outstanding results.
Presstek's imaging systems require no special installation procedures,
and the plates can be used on a wide variety of printing presses.
Gerber Systems was another Presstek plate user showing their soon-to-
be-available Gerber Thermal Plate setting system running Presstek's
PEARLdry(TM) Thermal Ablation Plates. These Presstek plates require no
post processing. The show attendees were able to see the plates
actually being imaged in the machine via a special closed circuit
television camera mounted inside the Gerber unit. Printed samples were
available from plates previously imaged on the Gerber unit. The
interest in Presstek's non-polluting thermal plates was exceptional,
according to Gerber personnel working at the show.
Heath Custom Press also had their Plate Star computer-to-plate
system at the show. This direct-to-plate system is manufactured by
Presstek under an OEM arrangement with Heath. Heath plans on using the
Plate Star in their existing markets to support both waterless and
dampening system based special application uses. The Plate Star also
uses Presstek's PEARL based non-polluting plates.
Presstek, Inc., founded in 1987, has developed PEARL, a patented,
proprietary non-photographic, toxic-free, digital imaging and printing
plate technology for the printing and graphic arts industries. PEARL's
laser diode technology is capable of imaging various types of Presstek
printing plates either off-press or on-press to produce high quality,
full-color lithographic printed materials. Presstek is also engaged in
the development of additional products and applications that incorporate
its proprietary PEARL technologies and consumables, including both
computer-to-plate and other direct-to-press applications.

I can't help but drag this stuff out and review it every time this stock takes a beating.

Is this a whole pack of lies and exagerations or is there going to be a large market someday? Hmmmmm?

I have also read of the competition but the information seems to point to either inferior print dpi, or it's just as costly.

I have been in this thing too long as it is and with the mood of the world on this DAWG prst I will finally exit tomorrow at a BIG LOSS.

It's on to other investments or maybe just sit on the sidelines and wait.
I will keep an eye on PRST but it will probably hit $5 a share at the rate it's going.
As a new investor and a subscriber of Cabot newsletter I see an awful lot of contradictions in what he is advising.

I am walking away a little wiser for it all.
Good luck anybody hanging in there.
