I get it. Articles you like are worth more and are not "opinion pieces." They are written by some "higher authority."

Sadly, no, you don't get it.

An "opinion piece" is someone's thoughts and feelings on a subject. That's what the Polish guy whose article you point to has done.

The Financial Times article which you still have not read and hence are talking garbage just to waste my time does not include opinions, but names, dates, quotes about WHO wrote the two letters in question, HOW the Eastern European countries were made to sign them, who said WHAT, and WHEN.

The difference would be clear enough if you could take the time to read the article in question before trying to attack the person who referred to it. That is, unless, if it will not take up too much time from your main activity of bickering with numerous strangers on various SI threads...
