Peter,

Some firms won't allow you to short under $5 or even $6.
But some firms do. So you have to find out which firm
allows you shorting.

There're ways to "short squeeze". Here're few:
One is firms will ask shorts to deliver their shares.
Another is for share-holders move their accounts to
Non Margin accounts, so the firm can't allow shorts
to short against your shares.
