Declaring failure? That would seem to be another one of those straw men people are so fond of throwing out around here. I think it's fair to say that the postwar insertion of Chalabi with his sad little personal militia of 700 or so didn't quite go according to plan. But, as Rummy is fond of saying, "stuff happens". I imagine stuff will continue to happen for a while in Iraq, as stuff has continued to happen in Afghanistan for the past year and a half. Anything that goes wrong will be Somebody Else's Fault, though. The uniformed military, or the liberals, or "Arab minds", or pathetic world opinion outside the US that is insufficiently in awe of W, there are plenty of people not a party to Rummy's official line to blame it on.
