This isn't really anything new in the realm of American political hyperbole. During the Vietnam War, many of us who spoke out against the war were condemned as being anti-American. Heck, I was even labelled "Mr. Marx" in my high school class because I happened to be willing to talk about things most other students weren't even familiar with. Things like the lies that were used to force through the Tonkin Gulf Resolution, the deceits of the Johnson Administration in general and the foolishness of our anti-communist zealotry covering for a bout of neo-colonialism.

America has always had a profoundly irrational "No Nothing" Party. A viewing of the "Gangs Of New York" gives a graphic image of the sort of no-nothings who regularly contribute to this thread.

But it isn't strictly an American phenomenon. Those who support Bush on this thread and call themselves "peons" as one just did, would be wise to study the history and demise of the Brown Shirts of Germany in the 1930's. Eventually, the little soldiers who loyally follow the leader, whether Bush or Hitler, always end up being played for chumps by the much more sophisticated criminals in charge of these Right Wing juntas. Happens every time... :)
