Under-$500 PCs set to hit the market next year

Or so says, National Semiconductor, whose merger with chipmaker
Cyrix is designed to make the low-cost "system on a chip" a reality

price of what the company calls a "full-blown, entry-level"
personal computer to less than $500 by early 1998.
