sly, listen to me. Try thinking outside of the box for a second. I was grew up in an area that has a huge Black population. In my earliest years I witnessed race riots, I've hung with a lot of brothers, I work with em, etc, etc.... I feel I have a little insight into this subject. Ask yourself a few simple questions.....

How long has the Black community voted for the left? Has it helped them as a community? Are 70% of their children are born out of wedlock? Are the ghetto communities filled with folks that still don't buy into the American system, what percentage of Black males are incarcerated? Is it better for Blacks to vote for candidates that offer them handouts or candidates that challenge them to stand on their own? Can you name one liberal policy that has helped the Black community? Sure many Blacks have moved up in our society, but a large segment of Black America is actually worse off now than when LBJ declared war on poverty.

Is Condi Rice a sellout because she doesn't fall in line with the Jesse Sharpakons of the world? Did Colin Powell, the son of Caribbean immigrants, born in the ghetto reach the highest possible level in the most powerful military in the world? Surely he wouldn't stand with the conservatives now, if he felt the left had anything to do with his achievements?

Has the incredible amount of money pumped into urban school systems(forced by Dems) done anything to raise the academic success in the Black community? Isn't it true that in Black urban neighborhoods over 50% of high school kids can't pass the most basic academic skills tests?

Why is it that all of the Black people I know that have "made it" financially vote Republican? Did they realize that the Dems are holding back their people? Could it be that the left is no friend of the the Black community? Have they been "bamboozled" by the left? Malcolm X warned not to trust the liberals. No one listened. Instead for 30 years, Black leaders have sold out to the left for nothing more than a free lunch, but no ability to make their own lunch.

I think you need to rethink this assumption that the Republicans are the enemy of minorities. Many GOP ideas are the ONLY thing that will ever change the absolute mess that exists in our minority communities. Many liberal policies do nothing more than perpetuate an old big problem. When NJ announced that they were going to get tough on welfare moms and cut them off the system, Dems cried that it would be a disaster. Families would be thrown into the streets, starving. It never happened, instead there has been a dramatic decrease in welfare recipients. And I don't see any babies starving around here.

Open your mind Sly, affirmative action in its very self, creates a perception that some need a handicap to succeed. It creates resentment from Whites, it gives racists a thing to b1tch about. It invalidates the accomplishments of those who "benefit" from it, simply because one can always point out that "he never would have made it without affirmative action", even if he would have, it'll always be there.

Obviously, the liberal policies towards racism and equality are a horrible failure in our country, disgraceful. Who can argue that? I watched the liberals build housing projects in the 60s and 70s and then watched those neighborhoods become the worst drug infested, violent, crap holes in America. Then in the 90s they began tearing them down. Another testament to liberal failure to seriously deal with racial equality in any meaningful way. Again, they threw free money at a problem and made it worse.
