First of all, I have great respect for David Barton's opinion and I am very glad to have him on board here. About the price, I do feel that if RGFX lowered the price that it really wouldn't have any big effect on sales UNTIL the market became aware of the product. Yes, RGFX is a big name overseas but I subscribe to about 3 related magazines and I haven't seen RGFX's name yet (although they did pop up in a short non biased article on LFDP in a supplement to Graphic Arts Monthly). The intro of the P5000 has already undercut (by >$20,000) a few other printers that are inferior to it.

What I would like to see is a go-for-the-throat advertising campaign aimed directly at it's competition with side-by-side comparisons of the printers it is up against - prices and everything. I feel that the $8k price cut SHOULD be used to get the name out there, but only after they advertise it. There are alot of printers selling at $20k-$35k and a price cut for the P5000 would help, but who can buy a printer that they don't know about?

I am going to send a few magazines in to RGFX and let them know how I feel about their advertising campaign. I think that the whole "homogenious language" excuse is a bunch of crap.

Darren
